Dos and Don'ts

When filling out the Band Seating Chart form, attention to detail is crucial. Here are four important guidelines to follow:

  • Do ensure accuracy. Double-check the number of chairs and stands for each row before submitting the form.
  • Do provide clear information. Fill in the director's name and school name clearly to avoid any confusion.
  • Don't forget the deadline. Submit the completed form before March 1, 2008, to ensure your requirements are met.
  • Don't ignore the percussion setup. Remember that percussion must remain in the basic setup as indicated on the form.

Common mistakes

  1. Failing to include the director's name at the top of the form can lead to confusion about who is responsible for the seating arrangement.

  2. Not accurately drawing the percussion set-up can result in poor sight-lines for the conductor, affecting performance quality.

  3. Leaving the school name blank may delay processing and communication regarding the event.

  4. Incorrectly counting the number of chairs and stands for each row can lead to inadequate seating and equipment on performance day.

  5. Failing to provide totals for chairs and stands at the end of the form can complicate stage set-up logistics.

  6. Neglecting to include the performance date and time can create scheduling conflicts and misunderstandings.

  7. Overlooking the specific row assignments for each instrument group can disrupt the intended arrangement.

  8. Not adhering to the basic percussion set-up requirements may lead to issues with sound balance during the performance.

  9. Failing to fax the form to the correct number and attention line can result in lost requests and last-minute changes.

  10. Submitting the form after the March 1 deadline can lead to complications in securing the desired stage configuration.
